Types of Interior and Exterior Wall Paints

There are various types of paints used for painting the interior wall of the house, offices, etc. Some of them are as follows: 

 1. Plastic emulsion Paint: Plastic emulsion paint is water-based wall paint. It is based on acrylic and offers a clean matt end to the walls. These paints have won popularity because of their ease of application, quick-drying properties, non-objectionable odor, and good washability.

 2. Cement Based Paints: Cement-based paints are of utmost durability and can be applied to the interior as well as exterior walls. As cement makes the main constituent of the paint, it provides hardness to the surface and can be one of the best options available.

 3. Distemper: Distemper paint is a decorative, water-based paint used in interior as well as exterior wall painting. Distemper consists of constituents such as water, lime, coloring pigments, and chalk. 

 4. Satin & Eggshell Paints:  Satin paints have a silky finish and have some degree of luster. Satin paints have a slightly higher gloss which makes it more reflective and durable. Unlike satin paints, eggshell paints are less lustrous and less durable.

 5. Matte Paint: Matte paint or color is the common most type that is used for interior painting. The matte color is not reflective and shiny, making it ideal for walls and ceilings. This paint can hide the imperfect textures easily but needs a regular touch-up.

 6. Matte Enamel: Matte enamel is somewhat similar to matte paint, but has an extra advantage. It hides the imperfect textures and there are fewer chances of regular retouching the paint again. This paint is ideal for kitchen walls where regular cleaning of oil patches, dirt, etc. is needed.

 7. Gloss Paint: Gloss paints are used to provide a shiny coat to the interior and exterior surfaces. 

 8. Acrylic Paints: “Acrylic” is itself the main binding ingredient and it is a form of water-based paint. Acrylic enamel, acrylic latex, and acrylic latex enamel are some varieties of acrylic paints.

 9. Whitewash: Whitewash is priced low as compared to other paint types. The paint is made using powder, chalk, or slaked lime, in water, in proportion. This kind is used to paint the brick walls or walls of concrete.
